I always knew this day would come, the day I would have to walk away from the University of Texas with so much joy, yet so much pain. When I arrived here 4 years ago, I was uncertain of what my time here would entail…flash forward to weeks away from graduating, and my life has been changed forever for the better. UT’s slogan is “What Starts Here Changes the World”, but what started here has changed MY world. After 3 uncertain semesters at UT, I found the most certain, constant and beautiful thing that would change my world in every way imaginable, and that was Chi Beta Delta.
My 5 semesters in Chi Beta have inspired me, excited me, and put me through some of the most trying times, yet it has easily been one of the most rewarding experiences I would not trade for the world. I have developed character, bettered myself, I’ve learned how to be a better speaker, manage my time, delegate responsibility, and I’ve had the best time of my life doing it. By serving as CJO for 3 semesters, I’ve learned how to lead. I’ve learned that leading is not about being the best at what you do, but about caring the most that it get done. There will never be enough words to describe how much each sister of XBD means to me–in each of their smiles I have found happiness, inspiration, unparalleled selflessness, support, and most importantly I’ve found my home. 
Each of them has impacted me in more ways than I could’ve ever thought possible when I first found Chi Beta. As I look back on formals, boat parties, study dates, shopping days, early mornings spent volunteering, Round Up, lazy days and Spring Breaks in Padre and Vegas, there is one thing that does not change about these memories–my sisters. They have been there through the highest of my highs and my lowest of the lows.
So as I walk away from Chi Beta as alumna and close another chapter in my life, I leave a message to the sisters who I have met and who will continue our Chi Beta Legacy…
I’m so blessed and thankful to have found this sisterhood and to know each and every one of you. The memories we have all made, I will always save. Though the future is uncertain and we are not sure of what we are heading towards, know that I wish you each love and luck and for each of you the world just opens up. Remember that it costs nothing to be kind and happiness can be shared with something as simple as a smile. You have all touched my life in countless ways. Now go change the world, and know that where the world may take me…in my heart you’ll always be. ❤
